If you’ve ever seen my kids’ DVD collection, it would be no surprise to you that the newest release from Veggie Tales, The Penniless Princess, has become a new favorite movie in our household. From the moment I opened the wrapper, it’s been the kids “go-to” movie when they’ve been allowed to watch movies in the last few weeks.
Knowing Your True Worth
As a parent, I get excited about my kids getting excited about Veggie Tales DVDs, because I know that they are not only being entertained, but they are also learning valuable life lessons from a biblical worldview.

Sweet Sara Crewe has everything a little girl could want – a loving family, lots of friends and a closet full of frilly dresses! But when life takes a turn and Sara goes from riches to rags, will she realize that her true worth lies not in what she has, but what’s in her heart?
My kids are being entertained by their favorite vegetables, all while learning that their true worth is not wrapped up in the things they have {or don’t have}, but in what is inside their hearts.
Taking it a Step Further
I love that this DVD not only introduces an important topic to my kids, but it also opens the door for even more important discussions of true worth. I love that after watching this DVD, I can talk with Jenny and David about the importance of not only having “good” things in their hearts, but about their need to have Jesus in their heart…
…because when they accept Jesus as their personal Savior – trusting Him by faith – they have become a child of God and there is nothing more valuable in this world than having a right relationship with God.
And Veggie Tales: The Penniless Princess opens the door for this important conversation.
