These are great tips! I just posted my first vlog today :) I agree with your tips…it was helpful to practice and I wish I could have done it during the day to have better lighting!

These are great tips, Ashley! Lighting is the hardest part for me since I only seem to remember that I need to shoot mine for the next day … after the sun starts to set. Our house is a lake house with small windows so….I really need to be sure to shoot when the sun is streaming in for some good natural lighting. Anyways, I enjoy your vlogs! Keep ‘em coming. :)

I try to vlog in daylight, too, but if I do need to vlog in the “dark”, I try to be aware of the location of the light to avoid half of my face being in the shadows.

Love your tips! I know what you mean about the smile. I’ve seen so many that the people look scared. In this age of conferences there’s a good chance that you’ll meet watchers in real life – that makes it even more important to be yourself!

Only thing I would add is to try to keep the videos to 3 minutes or less. If you have to do part one and part two you end up with more content – so it’s all good.
