Top 10 Tuesday: Quotes from A Confident Heart

{From the Publisher}:

Step out of the shadows of self-doubt to live with a confident heart.

Ever feel like you’re not good enough, smart enough, or valuable enough? Renee Swope understands. Even with a great family, a successful career, and a thriving ministry, she still struggled with self-doubt. Sharing her own personal story, Renee shows you how to rely on the power of God’s promises to find the security you need and the confidence you long for!

  • Exchange fear-filled thinking with faith-filled believing
  • Fail forward when life or sin sets you back
  • Embrace your God-given purpose, passion, and personality
  • See beyond who you are to who you are becoming in Christ

Powerful Scripture-based prayers are at the end of each chapter, along with Bible study questions and a chart with thirty-one promises to replace our most common self-doubts.

A Confident Heart

{My Thoughts}:

Wow. Seriously, WOW!

I wasn’t sure this book was for me. I don’t feel like I live in doubt – but within the first chapter of A Confident Heart, I found myself at the feet of the cross, admitting my doubt and my failure to live in the security of the promises of God. This is not a one-time read – I will be back over and over and over again!

Written in an easy-to-read conversational tone, A Confident Heart is a must-read book for all women. I even handed it to my husband, and he found it an enjoyable and challenging and encouraging read.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

Here are ten tweetable quotes that I loved from the first few chapters of the book:

“You can only see the shadow because you have turned away from the light. Turn back toward the light.” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“Praying God’s Word has been one of the most life-changing ways I’ve learned to live in the security of His promises.” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“Take me beyond believing in You to truly believing You. Help me rely on the power of Your promises and live like they are true.”

FINE: “Frazzled, Irritated, Neurotic, and Exhausted!” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“We fear that if people know we doubt ourselves, they’ll start doubting us too.” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“Most of us doubt anyone would ever stick with us if we let them get too close.” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“Instead of just making our lives easier, God wants us to come up close and experience Him & all that He has for us.”

“Because God’s love is perfect, you don’t have to be!” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

“Our value is not measured by what others think of us – but we surely live like it is, don’t we?”

“By worshiping Him for who He is, we remember how valuable we are IN HIM and TO HIM.” http://amzn.to/rlqWN6

There are so many more great quotes that I would LOVE to share with you - quotes that would encourage you, challenge you, uplift you, and spur you on to righteousness. But since I can’t, I would STRONGLY urge you to get your hands on this book. You will NOT regret it!!

Ashley, this could not have come at a better time. Yesterday I read an essay on writing fiction, and later wrote this in my journal: “I just don’t know whether I have it in me to write fiction — to tell a story without hammering my point.” So, my middle name is Self-Doubt!

I love the third quote; there’s a huge difference between believing IN God (implies agreeing with an abstract concept) and BELIEVING God (implying a face-to-face relationship and real communication). Thanks for sharing this title!
