I Love You to God and Back

I Love You to God and Back

Teaching kids the vastness of God’s great love, I Love You to God and Back is a cute story of a mommy bunny and her baby bunny as they express their love to one another.

From Tommy Nelson:

Everyone loves a sweet bedtime story—and this one has the added bonus of teaching children a lifestyle of healthy prayer. Starting with sweet and silly text about bedtime routines—teeth brushing, story time, and one more glass of water—this delightful book will then teach children how to pray: love God, ask Him for forgiveness, thank Him for many blessings, and offer requests. Throughout the bedtime rituals, Mommy and Baby giggle as they play a game to describe how much they love each other. This unique story will make bedtime prayers a real learning and bonding experience for parents and children.

What a great book to share with your children at bedtime as you tuck them in for the night – sweet dreams of your love and God’s love surround them as they fall asleep peacefully!

I Love You No Matter What

I Love You No Matter What

Based loosely on the parable of the prodigal son, I Love You No Matter What reiterates a parent’s unconditional love to his/her child. As parents, we often tell our kids that we love them, but when our “mean mom” voice comes out, do they truly know they are loved in spite of their wrong actions?

From Thomas Nelson:

Prince Chirpio likes growing up as royalty, but his selfishness and thirst for adventure prompts him to leave the kingdom and fly off to where he can make his own rules. He soon discovers that adventures can be lonely, and he misses the love and protection of his father. Can he go back home? Will his father still love him? Luckily, his father the king is eager to welcome Chirpio back and to convince his young prince that he will always love him—no matter what.

Parents will appreciate that the story focuses on an important felt need: making sure their children know Mom and Dad will always love them. This fresh take on Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son will show young hearts that there’s no getting away from a parent’s love.

I Love You No Matter What helps kids to understand that they are loved unconditionally, even when we are upset with their actions. Our love for them (like God’s love for us) does not waver!

LOTS of hugs and cuddles, quality time, and we try to tell them as often as we can that we’re blessed to have them as our children and nothing that they do or say will ever change how much we love them. (I should probably repeat this more and more until they get sick of hearing it – hehe). :)

I try to take my cues from them and see where I’m needed. Some days my oldest needs to be “on his own” and other days he needs lots of hugs and affirmation. My littles still like to snuggle with Mommi on the couch, so we sit & read & just play.

I try to make bedtime meaningful-even if the rest of the day has been a wash. We read stories and give lots of hugs:)

I have older boys (20 & 18) who don’t really want to cuddle with their mom anymore. So I have to just tell them I love them. But my little girl (7), she and I tell each other “I love you infinity” and then she starts making up numbers, Just to sweet. The other day, she said, “I’m gonna beat you mom, I love you to the heavens & back” well…I never knew there was a book on that very thing she said.

I get up with her multiple times a night and keep my cool (most of the time), even when I’m exhausted.

With homeschooling, I get the opportunity to spend lots of time with my kids and get to share lots of hugs, kissed and laughs.

Painful experience has taught me how limited our time with loved ones can be. I never had an opportunity to apologize/take my share of the blame for our last fight or say “I love you” to my first husband before he died, and I will regret that every day for the rest of my life. Now I make sure to tell my husband and kids how much I love them every chance I get. We have the “I love you even when you’re naughty or say something ugly.” conversation several times a week sometimes, but I don’t want the last thing I say to anyone to be a screech of frustration or an ugly, hurtful comment. Life is too short and unpredictable.
