The Homeschool Mother’s Journal {01.13.12}

In our homeschool this week…

We’re back to a “regular” schedule after a busy holiday season. Using our worksheet folders, we’ve found a new routine that works for us.

Jenny announced to me yesterday that she likes reading more than doing worksheets, so I’m going to start adding reading assignments to her worksheet folders so she can “learn by reading” as well as “learn through worksheets.”

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Though it wasn’t this week, it was fun to remember our trip to the farm as we shared our pictures on the blog this week. What a fun and spontaneous field trip that was!

I’m cooking…

We enjoyed eating breakfast for dinner this week when I shopped the pantry and freezer and found the ingredients for Blueberry Baked Oatmeal.

I’m grateful for…

… supportive friends who have encouraged me as I shared my thoughts on being a Stay-at-Home Mom and homeschooling.

SAHM

I’m praying for…

… my spouse with the 31 Days to Pray for Your Spouse Challenge. It’s not only been a source of encouragement in his life, but it’s changing me, too!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

… I love this random photo of David and me this week!

    I copied and pasted your recipe into my to-try breakfast file.  I made some baked pumpkin oatmeal this fall and it was delicious.  Going to try your recipe soon too.  I like turning bland oatmeal into something much better!

      I’ve had a few others say they’ve tried it and liked it! Hopefully you will too! :)

      Thanks, Amanda – he’s too cute for his own good. He gets away with WAY too much because he’s so cute! :)

    another great week! i think it’s great that you listened to jenny’s request and adapted your teaching style accordingly. that is the beauty of homeschooling – we can!

      I learned early on that trying to “force learning” on Jenny would only result in frustration for us both. She is so driven and such a little sponge. I’m just along for the ride! :)
