Fall is football season at our house – whether we’re at the local football field cheering on flag football or Varsity football, or we’re at the Big House cheering on our favorite college team, or at home watching the games on TV with friends and family. And football season means quick and easy, yet hearty and filling, meals that are ready to eat whenever halftime happens are a must to feed our family of six (plus anyone who happens to stop by to watch the big game). Six Can Coca-Cola Chili is the perfect meal to serve on Game Days!
This slow cooker recipe takes me less than five minutes to throw together in the mornings (and most of that is spent using my can opener). It’s a meal I can throw together before walking out the door to be at the football field first thing on Saturday and come home and find it ready to serve at halftime of our favorite college game on TV, whether we’re eating alone or hosting a game day party.
With plans to watch the big game on Saturday, I made a quick stop at Kroger on Friday morning to grab the supplies I needed for Six Can Coca-Cola Chili. I noticed they not only had 6pks of Coca-Cola on sale, but RITZ crackers were on sale as well – the perfect “crunch” to serve with our Six Can Coca-Cola Chili!
I tossed both in my cart along with the other ingredients, and early Saturday morning (before we left for flag football), I spent less than five minutes prepping dinner.
Six Can Coca-Cola Chili
- 1 lb of ground beef, browned (I brown all my ground beef in bulk and store in 1lb portions in the freezer for quick meals – I just do a quick defrost in the microwave before adding it to the slow cooker)
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes
- 2 cans of black beans, drained
- 2 cans of chili beans
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- 8 oz Coca-Cola
Put all the ingredients in a large slow cooker and stir together. (It’s seriously that easy.)
Cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
Serve as is, or top with shredded cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and some RITZ crackers.
Comfortably serves 6-8 adults.
