One of the biggest issues in our culture today is the lack of willingness to submit to any kind of authority – especially an authority that would cause me to no longer have control over how I live my life.
We are control freaks (most of us), and accepting that there is a God and that He is in control means we have to let go of the control we think we have and submit our lives to Him. It’s a pride issue.
I struggle with it on a daily (at times hourly) basis, as I am a person who likes to have control over life and circumstances. But when I let go and let God, I find it much easier to accept whatever He brings my way. After all, He’s in control whether I admit it or not!
Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. (Daniel 2.20-22, NASB)
The more that we recognize His rule and reign in our lives, the greater “the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension” (Philippians 4.7) is realized in our lives. What do you need to submit to God today?
