In John 9.7, Jesus puts mud on the eyes of a blind man and instructs him to “Go… and wash in the Pool of Siloam.” The man “went and washed, and came home seeing.”

Having been blind from birth, nothing could change this man’s condition. So, when Jesus puts mud on his eyes and tells him to go wash it off in the Pool of Siloam, the instructions probably seem a bit ridiculous.
You want me to do what? Are you kidding? You really think that this simple solution will solve my problem?
But, it isn’t the instructions that are the focus of this account. There was no “magic” in the mud or in the waters at the Pool of Siloam. Those physical elements aren’t what caused the man to be able to see.
It was his faith in the One giving the instructions and his obedience that brought blessing.
Has God asked you to do something “odd”? Is He asking you to step out in faith and obey when it might seem hopeless or impossible?
Trust Him – and obey Him. It is when we are fully relying on Him and walking in obedience with Him that we find true blessing!
