Pray with Faith

Live By Faith {guest post}

What does it mean to “Live By Faith”?

Faith is defined in Scripture:

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

For me, living by faith is remembering that my Father has control of things in my life, and I must trust that He knows better than I do. I have to trust Him. I must be ready to accept “no” or “not right now”.

I cannot trust Him if I have no relationship with Him.

I honestly feel closest to my Father while I am doing the Bible in 90 Days Challenge twice a year. I never feel as connected, or as faith-filled as I do when I am participating.

We desperately need time in the Word each day, time in prayer, and we need to spend time with others of like-faith. Our souls crave these areas of closeness.

When you read Hebrews 11, The Faith Hall of Fame, you see extraordinary faith:

“By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.” Hebrews 11:5

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” Hebrews 11:7

“By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.” Hebrews 11:11

“These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.” Hebrews 11:13

We need to strive to have bold faith as these did!

We are also told what happens without faith:

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

I want to please God.

What is living by faith to me? Time in prayer, reading God’s Word, fellowship each week with the saints as often as the doors are open, and growing each day, learning to die to self and trust Him.

Great post! I enjoy hearing about the faith that others walk in. Walking by/in faith can be an exciting journey. It’s believing God for and in the unknown. It’s loving God with your whole being; trusting and knowing that no matter what, God knows best and has the best!

One thing that increases my faith is praying God’s Word back to Him. It is alive, after all! I’m inhaling and exhaling life!
