My kids love the What’s in the Bible? series from Phil Vischer (creator of VeggieTales), and when I told them we had access to a pre-release copy of the latest Buck Denver adventure, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9, they were excited for a family movie night!
[Disclosure: I received pre-release access to Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 in order to provide this review post.]
About the Movie:
Buck Denver has a simple dream – to save the galaxy. Working for the Galactic Mission Board, Buck dreams of carrying God’s love to every corner of the Milky Way!
Except he doesn’t have a starship. Or a crew. Or even a captain’s license. He just needs a chance.
But when that chance comes and Buck finds himself leading a real mission into deep space, things don’t go at ALL like he imagined!
If he’s doing what God wants him to do, why is everything going wrong?!
From VeggieTales® and What’s in the Bible? creator Phil Vischer, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 is a wild, galactic adventure that teaches kids a powerful lesson about trusting God with everything – even our dreams!
What We Loved About the Movie
The message of this movie was that we all have an important purpose given to us by God, but sometimes it doesn’t look the way we think it should. Even when our heart desires to “do BIG things for God,” sometimes He asks us to do smaller, but just as important things, because He sees the bigger picture of our life and knows what it best for us.
As a parent, this message not only hits home, but it’s one that I want my kids to understand and accept. I want them to be willing to do whatever God asks them to do, even if it’s to simply obey in a “small” way that seems insignificant. It’s in the little steps of obedience that God works in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
Full of humor and teachable moments, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 is another DVD we look forward to adding to our What’s in the Bible? collection – one that my kids will watch again and again!
