living intentionally by faith everyday

L.I.F.E by Ashley Pichea

From the Overflow {Part One}

Do you write? Do you teach others? Do you feel like you have something to say?

I have had a dream for a few years of being a published author – someone that others want to read.

I started writing here at AP Freewriting with the purpose of having a place to work on being a better writer.

{God has since changed the purpose of this blog, but my dream is still the same.}

I went back to school to finish my degrees in Biblical studies and ministry, with an emphasis in writing and teaching.

But what I’m finding is that it’s not enough to have a degree or a title

In order to truly teach I must be teachable, allowing the material to have an impact in my life before attempting to share it with my readers. Teaching {and writing} is more than spewing knowledge; it is bringing the student {or reader} into the learning process.

    "In order to truly teach I must be teachable, allowing the material to have an impact in my life before attempting to share it with my readers."
    A well-put, timely reminder for me, Ashley. Thanks for posting this! Bless you!

    This is something I learned from Sally Clarkson at the Relevant Conference that was then reiterated to me as I read Howard Hendrick's' book, "Teaching to Change Lives," on the plane ride home. The last few weeks of "forcing posts" has only helped to solidify the concept in my brain.

    I can't give away what I do not possess, and if I'm not teachable, I will struggle to truly teach others.

    So true! I, too, find there's always more to learn and "in order to truly teach I must be teachable." Something important to always keep in mind.

    I love to read, and I find that it is an excellent way to open my mind to new and better ways of thinking about life. It's also a great way to come up with blog fodder!
