GrapeVine Bible Studies: Joseph

We’ve been studying the life of Joseph with GrapeVine Studies. And we’re loving it!

GrapeVine Studies: Joseph

Have you heard of GrapeVine Studies?

I hadn’t heard of them until I registered for The 2:1 Conference and attended a sponsor party on Facebook.

But when I learned about them, I was instantly intrigued and was quick to contact them about testing out their Bible study curriculum with Jenny.

GrapeVine Studies

About GrapeVine Studies:

Easy to Prepare – Effective to Teach

Finally, a Bible study curriculum that engages the intellect while stimulating the imagination! Grapevine Studies provides effective, easy-to-teach Bible curriculum to disciple students ages five to adult. Through the use of Bible timelines and easy-to-follow lessons, Grapevine Studies will give your students a panoramic view of the Bible.

Grapevine Studies Mission Statement

Our mission at Grapevine Studies is to provide believers with the tools they need to know God’s Word and disciple others.

With our teaching method and Bible studies, parents and teachers can effectively disciple their children and students so that they are equipped to reach the world with the truth of the Gospel.

Grapevine Studies is pleased to be able to provide Bible curriculum to a variety of denominations. Our unique teacher-directed doctrinal approach provides a platform for teachers/parents to explain their specific doctrines as they arise within the lesson.

GrapeVine Studies: Joseph

Walk with Joseph as he goes from a prince in Canaan to slavery in Egypt and then to the courts of Pharaoh. Your students will enjoy this engaging Bible study! Take your students on a journey with Joseph as he travels from the tents of Jacob to the house of Potiphar and eventually to the courts of Pharaoh.

This chronological study of the life of Joseph will engage your student’s intellect and imagination!

Note: GrapeVine Studies are available as printed books or downloadable e-books. Each e-book is a PDF file and includes color images. (Our printer only prints black and white.) You can print the e-books in their entirety {as I did}, or you can print only the pages you need.

We have really enjoyed working through the GrapeVine Studies: Joseph curriculum.

GrapeVine Studies: Joseph

Two things Jenny likes about the GrapeVine Studies: Joseph curriculum…

  1. “I love coloring the coat of many colors.”
  2. “I like reading the Bible.”

GrapeVine Studies: Joseph

Five things I like about the GrapeVine Studies: Joseph curriculum…

  1. Adaptable: The multi-level curriculum is adaptable to any age, and would work well in any Bible teaching setting {church, Christian school, home Bible study, VBS, homeschool, etc.}.
  2. Stick Figures: I’ve always loved stick figures, so this element is a major plus in my book!
  3. Bible centered: Each aspect of the “story” is founded in the Scripture. Jenny has to get her Bible out and find the verses in her Bible to read what is happening before drawing the corresponding picture.
  4. Multi-sensual: Some are auditory learners, some are visual learners, some are hands-on learners. This curriculum covers all the learning styles!
  5. Easy to teach: In the beginning, I would sit and work through each day’s lesson with Jenny. But within a few days, she was able to do the lessons on her own.

Florida Field Trip: Manasota Key Beach

This March, we had the opportunity to travel to Florida for nine days.

Although we were staying with my grandparents, two hours away from the nearest ocean {or gulf}, we decided we needed to take the kids to see the “ocean” {aka Gulf of Mexico}.

So we got in the van after Sunday lunch and headed for the Gulf Coast to visit Manasota Key Beach.

Manasota Key Beach

When we arrived at the beach, it was fairly deserted due to cold temperatures {it was in the mid-60s} and winds.

Manasota Key Beach

We decided to don our sweatshirts and spend a few minutes collecting shells, in spite of the weather.

Manasota Key Beach

I had brought two plastic containers from home – one for each kid – specifically for this occasion.

David was more interested in chasing the seagulls than picking up shells.

Jenny worked hard to find the prettiest shells on the beach.

We found lots of coral-colored shells in the sand.

When the kids had filled their containers {about 20 minutes later}, we decided to head back inland.

We met up with my friend Jenn and her kids for some dinner before heading back to my grandparents’.

It was the perfect ending to a fun trip to the beach!

A Whale of a Tale – Cetaceans

Jenny spent some time reading “A Whale of a Tale” last week.

A Whale of a Tale

While she was reading, she kept a list of words she didn’t know. When she was done, we used Swagbucks to look up the words she didn’t know.

Cetaceans was one of the words on her list.

We searched for “Cetaceans” on Swagbucks.

One of the links that came up was for Wikipedia.

Cetaceans on Swagbucks

We clicked on the link to read about Cetaceans on Wikipedia.

Cetacea on Wikipedia

We learned that Cetaceans

  • are marine mammals commonly known as whales, dolphins, and porpoises.
  • are the mammals best adapted to aquatic life.
  • breathe air through a blowhole and can remain under water for much longer periods of time than other mammals.
  • have eyes on the sides of their heads instead of the front.
  • have teeth, but don’t chew.

We also enjoyed looking at pictures of over 80 varieties of Cetaceans.

The 2:1 Conference

The 2:1 Conference starts TOMORROW!!

I am so excited to be headed to Washington, D.C., this weekend for The 2:1 Conference!!

The 2:1 Conference

The 2:1 Conference is a faith based conference for homeschooling parents that blog (not just about homeschooling), or are otherwise interested in social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.

Blogging and homeschooling are journeys; each changing with the seasons of our lives.  Offering knowledgeable speakers and panelists, our goal at 2:1 is to equip you with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in your blogging as well as homeschooling journeys.

We strive to encourage and educate by teaching social media skills, networking techniques and the art of blog crafting. We also stress the importance of maintaining a balance by keeping Christ first in our homes.   We are dedicated to ensuring every attendee comes away from 2:1 with new tools, resources and skills as well as a renewed spirit.  Our desire is to solidify your homeschool resolve and cultivate social media skills and connections.

As I delve deeper into the world of homeschooling and homeschool blogging, this conference is the perfect choice for my “one conference” for 2012.

Not only will I have the opportunity to connect with many online friends in person {can’t wait!!}, but I will also have the opportunity to be encouraged and instructed by other homeschooling and blogging moms who are in the trenches and have life experiences similar to my own.

As great as all that is, I’m probably MOST excited about connecting with the AMAZING sponsors of The 2:1 Conference!!

Would you pray that God will meet us at The 2:1 Conference this weekend?

  • Pray that we will be open to His leading and guiding.
  • Pray that we will be a source of encouragement to one another.
  • Pray for wisdom for the speakers.
  • Pray for safe travels to and from the conference.
  • Pray, above all else, that God would be glorified throughout the entire weekend!
