After the Snow Falls, by Carey Jane Clark

{From the Publisher}:

In the middle of a soccer drill, in an awful, awkward moment, Celia Bennett’s eight-year-old son Caleb lands on his face and chest in the grass. The diagnosis blindsides her, bringing her face-to-face with every parent’s worst nightmare.

Desperate to save her son’s life, Celia pursues a cure through alternative medicine, but her quest ends in frustration and disappointment. Facing despair, hope walks in on the most unlikely set of legs, when her father returns after a 30-year absence. Can she release pain to embrace hope? Will it make a difference, or is it too late?

{My Thoughts}:

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I began reading After the Snow Falls. I knew that it was the author’s first published novel, but I didn’t have any ideas about the story or the setting. I “walked in blind.”

The copy I received for review was not the finished “polished” copy, so there were a few rough spots, but all-in-all, I was quite impressed with Carey’s first novel.

The story was well-developed {and interesting}, the character were deep and engaging, and the plot moved at a pace that kept me turning the pages. I really enjoyed reading this story {though I’ll warn you to be sure to have a tissue in hand when you do!}, and I look forward to reading future novels by Carey Jane Clark.

I give After the Snow Falls four out of five stars.

Thanks to Carey Jane Clark for allowing me a “sneak peek” of After the Snow Falls in exchange for an honest review.
