3-2-1 Penguins! Complete Season One on DVD {giveaway}

Growing up, Saturday morning cartoons were a highlight of my week.

I can still remember tiptoeing into my parents’ bedroom with my little brother to see if Dad was awake and would come turn on Garfield and Friends for us. Garfield and Friends {and the other Saturday morning cartoons} would provide us with some “mindless” fun to start off our weekend.

While I still enjoy the occasional “mindless” cartoon, I’m glad that my kids have an alternative with quality, biblically-based cartoons like 3-2-1 Penguins!

3-2-1 Penguins! on DVD

My kids are big fans of Madgascar’s penguin quartet, but I’ve never been a big fan of the crass behavior that is associated with those penguins. I remembered the penguins that Big Idea had introduced back in 2000 {after my cartoon days} and wished that my kids could enjoy those penguins instead – ones that would encourage them to be kind to one another and live according to the way God wants us to live.

{From Wikepedia}: Twins Jason and Michelle are spending summer with their English Grandmum in The Poconos region of New York. Grandmum has a collection of kitschy ceramic figurines, the most prized of which is four penguins in a rocket ship (a honeymoon gift from her deceased husband). In the first show, the twins accidentally drop the ship, but instead of breaking it flies into the air and reveals the four penguins are actually the crew of a real spaceship – the United Federation Rockhopper. The twins are then pulled into the ship, using the crew’s Gileezle gun, and taken on a galactic adventure. The adventure that ensues then ties into whatever moral dilemma that Jason and Michelle had struggled with in the shows opening scene.

My kids LOVE 3-2-1 Penguins! {they haven’t stopped begging to watch the episodes since we got the DVD in the mail from Veggie Tales}, and I love it too! The brother-sister duo of Jason and Michelle are a perfect example for my kids to learn from about doing life with a sibling, and the quartet of penguins brings in a level of humor that entertains while teaching truth.
